The 21 year old student injured in this auto accident sustained three fractured vertebrae in his back, a lacerated liver, and partially collapsed lungs. Two rods were surgically installed to stabilize his spine, then were removed a year later after the broken bones healed. The plaintiff was ultimately released without restriction following the hardware removal and many weeks of physical therapy. The amount recovered was equal to the available limits of the applicable insurance policy.
